Timothy M. Sledd has been appointed Chief Public Defender in Lawrence County, Indiana. Tim has been an attorney in Mallor Grodner’s family law division since February 2019.

Tim’s accomplishments during his tenure at Mallor Grodner have been numerous. He achieved Family Law Specialist Certification from the Family Law Certification Board of the Indiana State Bar Association and completed training through the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals to practice as a collaborative divorce attorney. Having mediated hundreds of family law cases as a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator, he completed the required civil crossover training program to become a Registered Civil Mediator. Tim also served on the faculty of several continuing legal education seminars. In addition to his work in family law, mediation, and advocating for children in court proceedings as Guardian Ad Litem, Tim also represented clients in criminal defense work.

Prior to joining Mallor Grodner, Tim served as the Juvenile Law Judge (Referee) in Lawrence County and spent six years as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Lawrence County. From his experience on the bench, he developed his ability to see the many sides of complex legal issues and to formulate cases to be most effectively heard by the Court. His experience as a prosecutor placed him in the courtroom nearly every day, advocating, arguing, and litigating a wide variety of cases, balancing the interests and needs of victims of crime with the full power of the law and its ability to punish offenders. Tim’s background in office in Lawrence County as well as his experiences at Mallor Grodner uniquely qualifies him to assume the Chief Public Defender position in Lawrence County.

Mallor Grodner is committed to public service, and many of our attorneys have been recognized for their public service and pro bono work. Mallor Grodner is proud to have contributed to Tim’s preparation to serve the citizens of Lawrence County. In making this announcement to the attorneys and staff of Mallor Grodner, Managing Partner Dustin Plummer stated, “While we are obviously disappointed to see Tim leave, we also want to congratulate him on this exciting new opportunity and wish him the very best in this new chapter of his career.”
